London Talks Reverse “Monumentally Ill-Advised” Ethane Export Controls

Following high-level U.S.–China trade talks in London, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick announced that the United States will reverse recently imposed export controls on ethane shipments to China. The decision ends a short-lived but disruptive policy that, according to observers, revealed deep flaws in U.S. economic statecraft.

President Trump has issued an executive order prohibiting the 2020 acquisition of Jupiter Systems, LLC by Suirui International Co., Limited, a Hong Kong-based firm majority-owned by a Chinese entity. Jupiter Systems is a maker of collaborative visualization and display wall solutions.
